Martín Laportilla, bass · Lluc Casares, saxophone · Antonio Mazzei, piano · David Xirgu, drums · Juan Berbin, percussion. Jaco Pastorius forever transformed the role of the electric bass. His playing elevated it into a melodic, harmonic and rhythmic instrument all at once, opening up a universe of possibilities that continues to inspire musicians around the world today. In this project, Martín Laportilla revisits emblematic Pastorius compositions and explores his legacy from a contemporary perspective, bringing the tradition of electric jazz into dialogue with a distinctive present-day voice. The concert is conceived as a journey through some of Jaco's most representative works, presented in arrangements created especially for this line-up. Accompanied by a first-rate group of musicians comprising Lluc Casares (saxophone), Antonio Mazzei (piano), David Xirgu (drums) and Juan Berbín (percussion), Martín Laportilla offers a personal reading of this repertoire, with music alternating between moments of intimacy, creative risk and collective energy while highlighting the expressive richness of the electric bass.
