Residents' movements have played a decisive role in shaping and transforming Barcelona since the 1960s, developing a form of organisation that is unusually distinctive compared with other cities. The visit is a chance to discover the Arxiu Històric de Roquetes-Nou Barris, created and preserved by the residents' organisations themselves, an exceptional example of collective memory holding documentary heritage that is essential to understanding this history of civic participation and urban transformation This activity is part of the visits programme of the 17th Conference of the European Association for Urban History (EAUH), which reflects on urban history and the role of cities in the building of Europe.
