Espai Mirador, el Raval, Ciutat Vella

As part of Barcelona 2026 Capital Mundial de l'Arquitectura, the Grup de Recerca Urbanisme (GRU) of the Departament d'Urbanisme, Territori i Paisatge (DUTP) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) has developed an exhibition on the material construction process of the Barcelona metropolis and its relationship with urban planning over the past 150 years. Through graphic documents (maps, plans, archive and current photographs, press), videos and films, accompanied by headlines and short texts, the exhibition shows the long process involved in constructing our metropolis, illustrating changes in theories of the city, urban and territorial projects and methods of urban-planning intervention in each period. The exhibition aims to help disseminate knowledge of our metropolitan reality and raise awareness among citizens in general, and the agents involved in constructing the city in particular, of the significance and social usefulness of urban planning in the development of the metropolis.
