Discover the history of life through its most direct witnesses: fossils. We invite you on a journey that began with the origin of the Earth around 4.5 billion years ago. "The Most Beautiful Story of the Cosmos" is a 900-metre-long exhibition spread throughout the Museu de la Ciència CosmoCaixa: with every step, you will travel through five million years of the planet's biological evolution. The exhibition contains fossils documenting the entire story of the evolution of life on Earth. The most ancient is a fragment of meteorite as old as the planet itself. But there are many more: remains of stromatolites, eukaryotic algae, traces of ancient soft-bodied animals, animals with chitinous skeletons, ancestral vertebrates, the first plants, aquatic arthropods, primitive fish, insects and reptiles such as dinosaurs... The extinction of the dinosaurs made the expansion and diversification of mammals possible. Among them emerged the hominoid primates, from which our species, Homo sapiens, arose. A long history that began on an inert planet.
