What to do in Sants
Sants grew around an 1844 textile factory that is now a library, its chimney still standing in the middle of the neighbourhood. What defines it is not monuments but its associations: much of what happens here is organised by residents' groups, not institutions. If you have a few hours, this is the neighbourhood whose programme looks most like the lives of the people living in it.
Waltru uses Sants as a practical area covering the neighbourhoods of Sants, Hostafrancs and la Bordeta, within Sants-Montjuïc.

Get to know Sants
From the factory to the residents' associations, in three steps.
It grew around the Vapor Vell, an 1844 textile mill that is now a library: its chimney still stands in the middle of the neighbourhood.
Its August street festival rivals Gràcia's in decorated streets, and the same residents' committees have been running it for decades.
It has one of the densest networks of residents' organisations in Barcelona: much of the programme we list here is run by them, not by institutions.
What its programme is like
