"Autoimmune Diseases: The Enemy Within" Conference

6 October 2026 · 19:00

Centre Cívic Casa Golferichs, la Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, Eixample

Autoimmune diseases are a group of conditions of unknown cause in which the immune system becomes altered and attacks the body's own organs. More than 110 such diseases are currently known, and some epidemiological studies estimate that more than 10% of the population has an autoimmune disease. In one third of these diseases there is a generalised attack on the whole body, known as systemic autoimmune diseases. They manifest through simultaneous or successive involvement of most organs and systems and have various autoantibodies as biological markers. Led by Ricard Cervera, Head of the Servei de Malalties Autoimmunes at Hospital Clínic, leader of the IDIBAPS Grup de Recerca en Malalties Autoimmunes Sistèmiques and director of the Universitat de Barcelona's Càtedra UB-GSK de Malalties Autoimmunes.

Part of the programme: In Search of Health. A la recerca de la salut: 3 activities in Barcelona, from October 6 to December 4. All free.
