Avinguda de les Drassanes, el Raval, Ciutat Vella
Presentation of the medieval vessel Les Sorres X following completion of the recovery, conservation and museum-display work on this boat, found in Castelldefels in 1990 during construction of the Canal Olímpic and dating from the second half of the 14th century. It is one of the few surviving medieval cargo boats in the Mediterranean and therefore offers a unique opportunity for academic study and public dissemination of coastal navigation from that period. After its discovery, the Centre d'Arqueologia Subaquàtica de Catalunya of the Generalitat de Catalunya undertook the dismantling, restoration and conservation of the boat. It has been held at Museu Marítim de Barcelona since 2011. Since 2015, it has undergone the conservation and consolidation work required for museum display. Research has shown that vessel forms in the Mediterranean have changed little over recent centuries, as demonstrated by the similarity between this medieval boat and later 20th-century vessels.
